Cold wave is coming! Here's how to prevent your excavator rock arm modification from "catching a cold".

Since the onset of winter, the cold air has not only affected people's health but also posed a severe challenge to various mechanical equipment. In the construction industry, excavators, as crucial construction equipment, directly impact the progress and quality of projects with their stability and reliability. However, during cold waves, excavators, if not properly maintained, are prone to "mechanical colds," leading to problems such as difficulty starting, sluggish operation, and accelerated wear of components. Therefore, excavator rock arm manufacturers, leveraging their extensive industry experience and technological accumulation, have provided users with unique solutions to prevent these "mechanical colds."

Excavator Rock Arm

In cold seasons, the engine and hydraulic system of excavator rock arms are prone to performance degradation due to low temperatures. Therefore, manufacturers recommend that users preheat the excavator before starting it, using devices such as glow plugs or preheating lamps to ensure the engine starts at a suitable temperature. Additionally, for excavators parked outdoors, insulation materials can be used to wrap critical areas such as the engine compartment and hydraulic oil tank to reduce heat loss and improve equipment efficiency and lifespan. Furthermore, hydraulic oil and lubricating oil are the "blood" of the excavator's normal operation. In low-temperature environments, ordinary hydraulic oil and lubricating oil tend to thicken, affecting the normal operation of equipment. Therefore, manufacturers recommend using cold-resistant hydraulic oil and lubricating oil. These products have lower freezing points and higher fluidity, maintaining good lubrication at low temperatures and reducing friction and wear between components. Furthermore, during cold weather, excavator components are more susceptible to damage and wear. Therefore, manufacturers advise users to conduct regular comprehensive inspections and maintenance of the excavator, including checking battery power, cable connections, engine oil and coolant levels, to ensure the equipment is in optimal working condition. At the same time, special attention should be paid to critical components such as the rock arm, checking their wear and tightness, and promptly replacing severely worn parts to prevent accidents. Also, during cold seasons, the operating time and intensity of the excavator's rock arm should be reasonably arranged. Avoid prolonged continuous operation under extreme low-temperature conditions to prevent increased equipment load and wear. During operation, the excavator's operation should be carefully observed; if any abnormalities are found, the machine should be stopped immediately for inspection to prevent the problem from escalating.

Excavator Rock Arm

In summary, by strengthening preheating and insulation measures, selecting cold-resistant hydraulic and lubricating oils, conducting regular inspections and maintenance, and rationally arranging working hours and intensity, we can effectively ensure the normal operation and stable performance of excavator rock arms in winter, providing strong support for the smooth progress of engineering construction.
